The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has held a review meeting, retraining exercise for Officers-in-Charge of selected Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) primary healthcare centres to strengthen programme implementation and improve service delivery.
The two-day exercise, held on Oct. 22 and 23, at IDK Hall, Awka, focused on the BHCPF 2.0 guidelines, monitoring and evaluation data collection tools for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Gateway, and revised enrolment targets.

The Executive Secretary of ASHIA, Dr. Augustine Ezeka, was represented by the agency’s BHCPF Focal Person, Nurse Adimmachukwu-Okafor Adaobi.
Speaking at the meeting, Nurse Adaobi highlighted key areas requiring improved performance, including data validation, enrolment, National Identification Number (NIN) registration, service utilisation, proper documentation and timely patient referrals.

She stressed that accurate data collection and compliance with the revised guidelines were essential to effective programme implementation, accountability and improved access to healthcare services.

The retraining also provided an opportunity for participating officers to review programme requirements, address implementation gaps and strengthen their capacity for enrolment, service delivery and reporting.
ASHIA reaffirmed its commitment to improving the implementation of the BHCPF programme in Anambra State, expanding access to quality and affordable primary healthcare for residents.
