The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has intensified awareness on the importance of health insurance, with its Executive Secretary, Dr. Augustine Ezeka, sensitising residents of Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) on the benefits of enrolling in the state’s health insurance scheme.
Dr. Ezeka spoke during the Ogbaru Town Hall Meeting organised by the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, on Aug. 17 at Iyiowa Odekpe Hall.
He explained that ASHIA provides enrollees with access to quality and affordable healthcare services, noting that health insurance can help individuals and families manage the financial burden that often comes with unexpected medical expenses.
The ASHIA Executive Secretary encouraged residents to enrol in the scheme, stressing that having health insurance coverage gives families greater confidence to seek medical attention when needed without being overwhelmed by healthcare costs.
He urged the people to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the state’s health insurance programme as part of efforts to promote accessible and affordable healthcare.
The town hall meeting brought together the commissioner for Commerce, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ogbaru LGA, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, and other dignitaries.
The meeting provided a platform for residents to engage directly with government representatives, ask questions and gain a better understanding of government programmes and initiatives aimed at improving their welfare.
The interaction underscored the importance of community engagement in ensuring that residents are informed about public services available to them and are able to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
