The Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Augustine Ezeka, has inspected two Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area(LGA), to assess their compliance with the requirements of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) programme.

The inspection, conducted on Oct. 27, covered Umueze Primary Health Centre and Ozalla Primary Health Centre as part of ASHIA’s efforts to ensure that participating and prospective facilities meet the standards required to provide quality healthcare services to beneficiaries.

At Ozalla PHC, which is already providing services under the BHCPF programme, Dr. Ezeka assessed the availability of essential medicines, medical equipment and other supplies needed to deliver effective treatment to enrollees.
He interacted with the Officer in Charge, Nurse Ezeibe Ifeyinwa, to discuss the facility’s resources and the delivery of healthcare services to beneficiaries under the programme.

At Umueze PHC, the assessment focused on the facility’s preparedness for BHCPF accreditation. Dr. Ezeka met with the Officer in Charge, Ezenwanma Theresa, to review the centre’s readiness and discuss its compliance with the programme’s accreditation requirements.
The inspection underscores ASHIA’s commitment to monitoring healthcare facilities, strengthening service delivery and ensuring that centres participating in or seeking entry into the BHCPF programme meet the necessary standards.
Through such assessments, the agency aims to support improved access to essential healthcare services and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive appropriate care at approved facilities.
