The Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Augustine Ezeka, on June 16, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Agency and one of the state’s foremost healthcare institutions.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ezeka noted that the engagement was aimed at deepening the existing relationship between ASHIA and COOUTH towards improving healthcare access and service delivery for Ndi Anambra. He emphasized the critical role of healthcare providers in the success of the State Health Insurance Scheme and reaffirmed ASHIA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare for all residents.

Responding, Dr. Umeakuewulu expressed appreciation for the visit and commended ASHIA for its contributions to expanding health insurance coverage in the state. She reiterated COOUTH’s readiness to continue partnering with the Agency in advancing universal health coverage and enhancing health outcomes for the people of Anambra State.
The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore strategies for strengthening collaboration in the delivery of efficient and patient-centered healthcare services.
