The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has reiterated its warning against driving one way on dual carriageways, describing the practice as a serious traffic offence that endangers lives and attracts stiff penalties under the state’s traffic regulations.
The warning was contained in a public safety message shared on ARTMA’s official Facebook page on August 4, where the agency urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and avoid driving against the flow of traffic.
ARTMA advised residents to caution their family members, friends and loved ones against engaging in the illegal practice, stressing that offenders would face the full weight of the law and that the penalties for the offence are strict.
According to the agency, enforcing traffic laws is aimed at protecting lives, ensuring the free flow of traffic and promoting safer roads across Anambra State, warning motorists not to expect intervention or leniency after being apprehended for violating the law.
The agency appealed to all road users to cultivate responsible driving habits by obeying traffic signs and regulations, wearing seat belts at all times and respecting the rights of other road users.
ARTMA reminded motorists that every responsible driving decision contributes to safer roads and helps protect families and communities.
“Obey traffic rules. Stay alive. Buckle up every time. Your life matters, and your family needs you.”
