The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has called on motorists, commercial drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians to strictly observe traffic signs and regulations, stressing that ignorance of road rules will not excuse violations.

The agency made the appeal in a statement published on its official Facebook page on June 24, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, reduce accidents, ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles across Anambra State.

According to ARTMA, traffic signs and road markings are designed to guide road users, prevent accidents, maintainig order on highways and streets, emphasizing that adherence to these signs is crucial to safeguarding lives and property.

It noted that every road user has a responsibility to understand and comply with traffic regulations, regardless of their level of driving experience or familiarity with a particular route.

ARTMA warned that anyone found violating traffic laws would be held accountable under the state’s regulations, adding that negligence or lack of knowledge of road signs would not be accepted as a valid excuse.

The agency urged residents to embrace responsible road use by exercising patience, discipline and respect for traffic rules, noting that collective compliance is essential to creating a safer and more efficient transportation system.

ARTMA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing traffic laws while intensifying public enlightenment campaigns aimed at promoting safer driving habits and greater awareness of road safety regulations across the state.
