‎An aspirant for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly, Engineer Eric Anyamene has called for deliberate empowerment of women, describing them as the foundation upon which homes are built.
‎
‎Engr. Anyamene, a Catholic and noted philanthropist, made the call during the commemoration of Mothering Sunday by the Catholic Church.
‎
‎He anchored his advocacy on the moral values women instil in their children and the immense sacrifices they make to sustain their families.
‎
‎Also speaking, Leader of the Obosi Development Union (ODU) Women’s Wing, Ambassador Augusta Ebunam, said Mothering Sunday serves as a reminder to Catholics and the wider society of the noble and indispensable roles women play in advancing society.
‎
‎Contributing, Mrs. Ogechukwu Ewudo-Okoye, a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Obosi, urged mothers to closely monitor their children, particularly those at impressionable ages, to guard against negative peer influence.
‎
‎She added that mothers deserve to be honoured and appreciated, describing them as stabilising forces in troubled homes.
‎
‎Chiedu is of the Ministry of Information, Anambra State
