The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has unveiled a three-year State Strategic Transformation and Sustainability Plan (SSTSP) aimed at strengthening HIV prevention, treatment, care and coordination across Anambra State.
The strategic plan, which covers 2026 to 2028, was presented during a high-level Implementing Partners Coordination Meeting held at Government House, Awka, on Monday, 18th may, 2026.

The meeting also served as an official platform to introduce the new Executive Director of ANSACA, Dr. Nkem Okeke, to key stakeholders and development partners involved in the state’s HIV response programme.
More than 20 organisations and institutions attended the meeting, including AHNi, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Jhpiego, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, Society for Family Health, World Health Organization, Clinton Health Access Initiative, National Human Rights Commission, NEPWHAN, ASWHAN, the TB Network, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Education and Women Affairs and RoLAC.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Okeke commended the implementing partners for their continued contributions toward combating HIV in the state and reaffirmed ANSACA’s commitment to deeper collaboration and improved coordination.
He noted that the newly unveiled SSTSP 2026–2028 would serve as a roadmap for enhancing sustainability, expanding access to prevention and treatment services, reducing stigma and ensuring a more effective HIV response system in the state.

Stakeholders at the meeting applauded the direction of the strategic plan and pledged continued support toward achieving a coordinated and impactful response to HIV across Anambra State.
The agency also encouraged residents to know their HIV status, remain healthy and support efforts aimed at ending stigma and preventing the spread of the virus.
