The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), in partnership with the Anyansi Family, has brought free HIV testing and counselling, hepatitis screening, tuberculosis (TB) symptom screening and other basic health services closer to residents of Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area(LGA).
The two-day community outreach, held on Sept. 11 and 12, at Amaenye Village Hall and the Abagana Welfare Union Secretariat, offered residents access to HIV testing and counselling, hepatitis screening, TB symptom checks, blood pressure monitoring and health education.
The initiative provided an opportunity for residents to access preventive health services within their community while receiving information on early detection, prevention and the importance of seeking appropriate care when necessary.
President General of the Abagana Welfare Union, Hon. Sir Linus Okafor (Okunwa), welcomed the intervention and commended ANSACA and the Anyansi Family for bringing essential health services closer to the people.
He appreciated Mr Nonso Anyansi for facilitating the outreach and called on other individuals, families and organisations to support initiatives that promote the health and wellbeing of their communities.
Some beneficiaries equally expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for its focus on improving access to healthcare at the community level.
For ANSACA, the outreach reflects the agency’s commitment to expanding access to HIV prevention, testing, health education, early detection and linkage to care across communities in Anambra State.
The agency emphasised the importance of partnerships with families, community groups, organisations and other stakeholders in strengthening grassroots health interventions and reaching more people with life saving information and services.
