The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has called on residents to actively participate in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for July 4.

The mayor made the appeal during a live interactive programme on Choice 97.1 FM, Nnewi, on July 1, where he engaged residents on key issues affecting the local government in line with his administration’s open-door policy.

Speaking on the forthcoming sanitation exercise, Hon. Anazodo urged residents to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels and desilt gutters to promote a healthier, cleaner and flood-free environment.

He stressed that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility, appealing to residents to support the exercise by complying with sanitation guidelines.

According to the mayor, movement will be restricted between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to enable effective monitoring and enforcement of the sanitation exercise across all wards in the LGA.

“Let us take ownership of our environment. A clean Nnewi North reflects who we are as a people,” Hon. Anazodo said.

The mayor reiterated his administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability, public health and community development, noting that regular sanitation remains essential to preventing disease outbreaks and preserving the aesthetic appeal of the area.

The Media Directorate of the Nnewi North LGA disclosed that sensitisation campaigns would continue across communities to ensure widespread awareness and active participation in the exercise.
