The Anambra West Local Government Area has announced plans to host a Farmers’ Empowerment Programme aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening food security across communities in the council area.
The empowerment programme, scheduled to hold on May 26, 2026, at the Local Government Council Secretariat in Nzam, will provide farmers with agro-chemical products and other agricultural support materials to enhance farming activities during the planting season.
The initiative, organized by the Anambra West Local Government Area under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkeiru Ndive, is part of ongoing efforts to improve the livelihoods of farmers and encourage sustainable agricultural development in the area.
According to a statement released by the council authority today May 20, the programme is expected to bring together farmers, agricultural stakeholders, cooperative societies, and members of the public interested in advancing agricultural production within the local government area.
The council noted that the intervention aligns with the agricultural transformation agenda of the Anambra State Government led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whose administration has consistently emphasized food sufficiency, rural development, and economic empowerment through agriculture.
Speaking on the forthcoming programme, Hon. Ndive reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting local farmers and ensuring that agriculture remains a major driver of economic growth in Anambra West.
