The Public Accounts Committee of the Anambra State House of Assembly has on July 29 commenced the review of the audited accounts of the Government of Anambra State for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.
The Committee, Chaired by Hon. Noble Igwe, began the exercise as part of its constitutional responsibility to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public funds across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the state government.
During the review, the committee cleared Anambra State Small Business Agency, Bureau of Public Procurement and Ministry of Finance, after a satisfactory examination of its financial records and rescheduled the appearance of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Anambra State Volunteer Service Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)to enable them provide additional documents and explanations where necessary.
Hon. Noble Igwe reiterated the committee’s commitment to ensuring accountability in the management of public resources, stressing that the exercise is aimed at promoting transparency, strengthening financial discipline, and ensuring that government agencies comply with established financial regulations.
In a vote of thanks, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor, appreciated the committee for its diligence and professionalism in carrying out its oversight responsibilities and assured the lawmakers of the ministry’s continued cooperation while reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management in the interest of the people of Anambra State.
