The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated an Interim/Caretaker Committee for the Nibo Union as part of efforts to restore stability and ensure effective leadership within the community.
The Committee was formally inaugurated on April 21 at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Light House, Awka.
The Committee, chaired by Chief Martin Anichebe, is mandated to: Audit the Nibo Union account; Prepare a conducive environment for the conduct of a peaceful and successful election; and Conduct the Nibo Union election as soon as possible.

Mr. Christian Nnebe – Vice Chairman, Chief Ikechukwu Kenneth Aniemena – Secretary, Nze John Okonkwo – Member, Mr. Douglas Aniemena – Member, Prof. Sunday Nwammuo – Member, Prof. Agari Nwokoye – Member, Ozo Chukwunonso Nwokike – Member, and Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe – Member.

In carrying out its assignment, the Committee is expected to work in line with relevant laws and guidelines guiding community administration and leadership transition.
Speaking on behalf of the State Government, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, who also serves as the Supervisory Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, called on the Committee to carry out its assignment with diligence, transparency, and a high sense of responsibility in order to justify the confidence reposed in them by both the government and the people of Nibo.
He emphasized the need for cooperation from members of the Nibo community, urging them to support the Committee and comply fully with the government’s directive to ensure the success of the exercise.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Martin Anichebe, commended the state government for the confidence reposed in them, assuring that the Committee clearly understands its mandate and is committed to delivering on its responsibilities.
He further assured that the Committee would work diligently to ensure peace, accountability, and the successful conduct of a credible election in the community.
The inauguration of the Committee marks a significant step by the Anambra State Government toward restoring order and facilitating a smooth transition to a duly elected leadership in Nibo.
