Anambra State Government has urged the Anambra State Directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other establishments involved in the distribution of health products to sensitize residents of the state on the alleged counterfeit Otrivin Nasal Drops which are already in circulation in the country.
This is to dissuade the people from patronizing the fake products and arrest the grave health risks in using them.
In a press release from the Public Relations Officer, NOA, Anambra Directorate, Mr. Anthony Obiorah, it was stated that the appeal was contained in a letter signed and made available to the office of the Anambra State Director, NOA, Barr. Ifeoma Chijioke, by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake.
The government letter has it that NAFDAC had before now, issued a warning letter to the reporting agency, against such products, but the expected results did not happen.
According to the message, the reporting agency has also identified suspicious batch numbers such as 7U8T and SU8X, indicating them as counterfeit products in contrast to the genuine Otrivin products with registration numbers 04-5350 for children and 04-0026 for adults.
”The letter, therefore, required NOA to embark on a statewide sensitization programme with a view to educating members of the public on the foregoing, as well as dissuade them from patronizing such fake products.”
