The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, has disclosed key decisions reached at the 7th State Executive Council meeting held at the Light House, Awka, on July 27, 2026.

Speaking with journalists in his office at Secretariate, Dr. Mefor announced that Anambra State will clock 35 years on August 27, 2026, with Council resolving to mark the milestone in grand style through a dedicated anniversary planning committee.

He revealed that the commissioning of the Amawbia-Ekwulobia-Uga Dual Carriageway and the iconic Ekwulobia Flyover will headline anniversary activities, alongside other completed development projects across the state.

On the recurring building collapse crisis, the Commissioner disclosed that Council adopted a two-pronged approach targeting accountability for engineers and approving officials found culpable in such disasters.

“The Council took that decision because it believes negligence and certain illegal, and possibly criminal activities often lead to such catastrophic outcomes.”

He further announced the completion of additional Smart Schools, including the Uga Boys Boarding Smart School, bringing the total to twenty-two, with the Ministry of Education to release enrollment guidelines for interested Ndi Anambra.

Dr. Mefor confirmed that Smart Schools completed recently will commence academic activities by the September/October 2026 session, joining others already fully operational across the state.

The Commissioner solicited stronger cooperation from Ndi Anambra through the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP), urging individuals and communities to support road construction, school building, and facility refurbishment initiatives.

“Government alone will not be able to bring the level of development that Ndi Anambra deserve and wish for the state,” Dr. Mefor said, commending communities already contributing while inviting others to join Soludozie Anambra.

The Solution Administration reaffirmed its commitment to accelerated, people-driven development as Anambra approaches its 35th anniversary with renewed infrastructural and educational milestones.

Lilian is of the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation.
