The Anambra State Ministry of Information and Value Reformation has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Advertising Practitioners Association Anambra Chapter (APAACH) on promoting ethical advertising, responsible communication and moral reformation.

The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, gave the indication on Oct. 27, when APAACH Chairman, Amb. Numac O. Kalu, and Vice-Chairman, Comrade Okwy Ugonweze, led other members of the association on a courtesy visit to his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

Mefor welcomed the association’s initiative and urged its members to support the state government’s moral and ethical reformation agenda.

He called on the practitioners to participate in the ministry’s Malu Mebe radio programme, scheduled to commence on Oct. 28 across five radio stations, to promote positive values and address moral and ethical issues in society.

The commissioner also said he would include APAACH in the ministry’s stakeholders’ platform to facilitate access to relevant information and encourage the association’s participation in activities relating to information management and moral reformation.

Earlier, Kalu said the association was established to promote professionalism, uphold ethical standards, protect the interests of genuine advertising practitioners and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in the state.

He sought the ministry’s guidance, support and official recognition, as well as a structured framework for engagement with the ministry and its agencies on issues affecting advertising practice.

Kalu also proposed periodic consultations, sensitisation programmes for practitioners and engagements with universities and polytechnics to familiarise Mass Communication and Marketing students with professional standards. He further requested the ministry’s support for the association’s planned formal inauguration.

In his vote of thanks, Ugonweze commended the commissioner for the warm reception and described the proposed collaboration as a welcome development.

He suggested extending the moral reformation initiative to primary schools, stressing the importance of instilling good values in children from an early age. He pledged to make the proposal a personal project and assured the commissioner of the association’s support and participation.

The proposed collaboration is expected to strengthen engagement between the ministry and advertising practitioners in promoting professional standards, responsible communication and moral reformation in Anambra.
