The Anambra State ICT Agency has commenced a two-day digital literacy training for staff of the Ministry of Agriculture to strengthen the use of official government email accounts for official communication and assignments.
The training, organised in collaboration with the Ministry, began on Sept. 23, at the Ministry of Agriculture Complex, off Kwata Flyover, Awka, with 40 headquarters staff participating.
The initiative is designed to familiarise staff with their official email accounts and equip them with the skills required to use the platform effectively for day-to-day government communication.
The Director of Administration in the Ministry, Ifeyinwa Onyenwe, said the training was organised at the instance of the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemena, to ensure that the Ministry’s official email system was fully utilised for government assignments.
According to her, the participating headquarters staff successfully accessed their official email accounts during the training.
Onyenwe expressed confidence that the accounts would be effectively integrated into the Ministry’s daily operations, while appreciating the ICT Agency for ensuring that a power outage did not disrupt the exercise.
Participants were taken through the process of accessing and setting up their official accounts, as well as practical lessons on email etiquette, security and the appropriate use of government email for official communication. The training continues to Sept. 24, with staff from the Ministry’s various Local Government Areas expected to participate.
The exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the ICT Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture to strengthen digital capacity among government employees and promote efficient, secure and professional digital communication across the state public service.
