The ongoing transformation in the education sector under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo continues to positively impact teaching and learning across Anambra State.

As part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure, the state government is currently constructing ten classroom blocks with staff offices, alongside a student centre at Nwafor Orizu College of Education.

In continuation of the supervision of the projects, the technical team from the Anambra State Ministry of Housing, carried out an inspection visit to assess the level of work completed at the institution.

The inspection team was led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Obi Okonkwo, and included the Director of Architecture, Arc. Obiora Ilouno; the Director of Building Construction and Maintenance, Bldr. Samuel Ojeleke; the Deputy Director of Quantity Survey, QS Eugene Onyenwe; alongside other ministry officials.

Speaking after inspecting the project sites, Engr. Obi expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on some sections of the project, particularly the three-classroom block with an examination hall. He directed that the contractors handling the projects be notified to accelerate work and ensure timely completion.

The Permanent Secretary, however, commended the contractor handling the student centre project for the quality of work already completed. He also advised that modifications be made to the toilet facility at the entrance of the building by installing a proper water collector to prevent rusting.

He further noted that some of the other buildings, except the staff office block, still require additional finishing works, including electrical installations, ceiling works, and toilet fittings.

The projects, which were awarded in 2025 and divided into three lots, have reportedly reached about 80 percent completion. Contractors at the site assured the ministry team of their commitment to speeding up work and delivering the projects within the stipulated timeframe.
