ANAMBRA HEALTH MINISTRY JOINS COUNTERPARTS TO MARK INTERNATIONAL ADOLESCENT HEALTH WEEK

As Anambra State Ministry of Health joins counterparts from around the World to mark International Adolescent Health week, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwakpadolu, Programme Desk Officer, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Adolescent and Reproductive Age, says the focus of the International Adolescent Health Week is celebrating the strength, dreams, and potentials of every adolescent.

She made this declaration in Amaenyi, Awka South Local Government Area on Tuesday after a street walk held to mark and sensitize the people on the best ways to handle adolescents, targeting both genders from 10 to 19 years.

The Programme Officer said, “To our leaders, caregivers, teachers, health workers, and all who guide and nurture adolescents, you carry the responsibility of shaping tomorrow’s nation.

“Let us continue to provide safe spaces, accurate information, quality healthcare, and unwavering support that empowers our young people to grow into healthy, confident, and responsible adults.

“To our adolescents, remember that your health, both physical and mental is your greatest asset; guard it, nurture it, and never be afraid to seek help when needed.

“You are not just the leaders of tomorrow, you are also the strength of today. Believe in yourself, make healthy choices, and stay focused on your dreams.

“Together, let us build stronger minds and bodies for today’s adolescents and a brighter future for all”.

Events for the celebration started on Monday, October 13 with a Television show at the Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS).

On Tuesday, October 14 a Press briefing was held by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo at the Ministry of Health Situation Room (Data Operation Centre), Awka.

On Wednesday, October 15, another radio show and on today October 16, School Sensitization programme.

The Week-Long event will fold up on Friday, October 17 with visits to Mosques and Churches.

There will also be church visitations on Sunday, October 19.
