As part of ongoing efforts by the Anambra State Government under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to improve access to safe and potable water across the state, the Ministry of Power and Water Resources on June 17, officially conducted the technical handover of a rehabilitated solar-powered borehole to the Anambra State House of Assembly at the Assembly Complex, Awka.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Ifeatu Emodi, expressed appreciation to the state government for delivering the project. He noted that the provision of a dependable water supply would significantly improve operations within the Assembly Complex and surrounding offices.
Mr. Emodi also highlighted the water supply challenges facing his ministry, revealing that substantial resources are spent on sourcing water and appealed to the government to consider extending similar interventions to the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
Representing the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Clerk of the House, Dr. Anthony Emeka Ughenu, welcomed officials from the Ministry of Power and Water Resources and expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the project.

Mr. Ughenu commended the state government for its commitment to strengthening public infrastructure, noting that the project was completed in less than a year from conception to delivery. He also praised the contractor and project supervisors for their dedication and quality service.
Speaking on behalf of the project supervisors, Mr. Okechukwu Onyedibe, Assistant Chief Geologist, and Mr. Emeka Okonkwo, Principal Technical Officer, both of the Ministry of Power and Water Resources, thanked the leadership of the State House of Assembly for the cooperation and support received throughout the execution of the project.
They urged the Assembly management to ensure proper maintenance of the facility to guarantee its sustainability and long-term benefits.
In his remarks, the contractor expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Power and Water Resources and the State House of Assembly for the opportunity to undertake the project. He also commended the project supervisors for their professionalism, guidance, and support throughout the implementation process.
The handover of the rehabilitated solar-powered borehole represents another significant achievement in the Soludo administration’s drive to expand sustainable water infrastructure and enhance the welfare of public institutions and residents across Anambra State.
