Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Patrick Aghamba, has commended the Nise Town Union Women Wing for establishing a Free Skill Acquisition Centre in Nise community.

Aghamba gave the commendation while representing the Anambra State Government at the official opening of the centre, describing the initiative as a laudable investment in youth development and empowerment.

He said that investing in the future of young people remained particularly critical to building productive communities, stressing that skills acquisition would provide youths with opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The Commissioner noted that relevant skills would enable young people to create value, earn sustainable livelihoods, establish businesses and contribute meaningfully to the economic and social development of Anambra State.

According to him, the initiative was in line with the state government’s emphasis on Public-Private-Community Partnership, through which government, communities, organisations and individuals collaborate to promote sustainable development in Anambra.

Aghamba commended the women for also demonstrating leadership and commitment to community development, urging other town unions, women’s organisations and well-meaning individuals to emulate the initiative across Anambra State.

He further called for sustained investments in employable, entrepreneurial and exportable skills, noting that empowering young people with practical knowledge would strengthen their capacity to contribute positively to society locally.

The Commissioner congratulated the Nise Town Union Women Wing on the establishment of the centre and expressed confidence that it would create new opportunities for young people within the community.

Aghamba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, skills development and initiatives that promote economic inclusion, urging communities to continue partnering with government towards sustainable development across Anambra State.
