The Chief Fire Officer of Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Chiketa Chukwudi Emmanuel, has congratulated the government and people of Anambra State, as well as Nigerians across the country, on the occasion of June 12, 2026 Democracy Day describing the celebration as a reminder of the nation’s commitment to freedom, justice, good governance and the rule of law.

In his Democracy Day message, Engr. Chiketa said the annual celebration provides an opportunity to honour the sacrifices of those who contributed to the nation’s democratic journey while encouraging citizens to embrace responsible citizenship and support efforts aimed at national development.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra State Fire Service to the protection of lives, property and critical infrastructure, noting that a safe and secure environment remains essential for democratic governance, economic growth and community development.

According to him, the agency has intensified efforts to prevent and reduce fire incidents across the state through public enlightenment campaigns, community engagement programmes, fire safety inspections, personnel training and prompt emergency response operations aimed at protecting residents and their investments.

The Chief Fire Officer further disclosed that the service has strengthened collaboration with markets, educational institutions, industries and community leaders to promote compliance with fire safety regulations and best practices, adding that such measures are helping to reduce the devastating effects of fire outbreaks.

He urged residents to adopt safety-conscious behaviours, observe fire prevention measures and remain vigilant in their homes, workplaces, markets and public spaces, stressing that public safety is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of all citizens.

Engr. Chiketa further commended the dedication and professionalism of officers and personnel of the Anambra State Fire Service, while calling on Nigerians to uphold the values of unity, discipline, patriotism and civic responsibility as the nation celebrates Democracy Day.
