In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda to combat erosion that is an existential threat to the state and all forms of environmental degradation, the Ministry of Environment takes ‘Operation Desilt Your Environment 3.0’ campaign to Eke-Awka, Kwata and Environs today.

Addressing the people, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Tochukwu Obodogha said that the ongoing campaign is in line with the governor’s agenda in turning the state into a smart mega City and Africa Dubai-Taiwan Silicon-Valley.

Obodogha reiterated that flood are human activities that happen when drainages and waterways are blocked by debris, and if not addressed could pose a threat to human lives and property.

He, however, implored that all debris must be evacuated immediately from gutters and other water channels to avert floods, while directing that no debris should be littered on the streets, that proper disposal must be carried out immediately.

According to him, the campaign is in line with the Public Health Law (2006), Anambra State Drainage Management Policy (2024), and Anambra State Environmental Management, Protection and Administration Law (2024) while urging every one to comply.

Responding, the Chairman of the Eke-Awka article line, Mr Chinedu Mbonu, commended the governor’s efforts in ensuring that Anambra is secured, safe and clean, promising that the activities of the governor would be supported by ensuring adherence to the set standard of the state government.

On their separate contributions, the Kwata meat sellers appreciate the governor for a job well done across the state as well as throwing their weight behind him.
