The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has declared that his legacy will be defined by the positive impact of his security efforts on residents rather than the number of arrests made, arms recovered or suspects prosecuted.
CP Ama Oji stated this in a security message issued on October 24, emphasising that his primary objective was to ensure that Ndi Anambra enjoy peace, safety and security across the state.
The police commissioner said he aspired to be remembered as a police chief who listened to the people, addressed their concerns and strengthened the capacity of the command to protect lives and property.
“I do not want my legacy to be measured only by the number of arrests we made, arms recovered or the number of persons prosecuted, but more importantly, by the security impact we made in the lives of Ndi Anambra,” he said.
CP Ama Oji stressed that effective policing requires strong collaboration between security agencies and members of the public, noting that collective efforts remain essential to tackling security challenges.
He added that he wanted to be remembered as a commissioner who worked closely with the people to promote peace, safety and security throughout Anambra State.
The commissioner’s message highlights the importance of community participation, public trust and responsive policing in addressing security concerns and creating a safer environment for residents.
It also underscores the need to evaluate security performance beyond operational statistics, with greater attention to the extent to which residents feel safe, their concerns are addressed and their lives and property are protected.
The Anambra State Police Command has continued to emphasise public cooperation as a vital component of its efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace across the state.
