‎The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has on Oct. 6, congratulated the 21 newly sworn-in Local Government Area Mayors and their Deputies, as well as the councillors inaugurated across the state.
‎
‎Udeze conveyed the message in a goodwill statement made available by his Senior Special Assistant/Chief Press Secretary, Rev. Emma Madu, describing the inauguration as part of the state government’s efforts to deepen democracy and promote development at the grassroots.
‎
‎He urged the new council officials to key into the Solution Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo by domesticating the administration’s development programmes and initiatives in their respective local government areas.
‎
‎The Speaker reminded them that their proximity to rural communities placed them in a strategic position to strengthen public confidence in the Soludo administration through hard work, effective representation and people-oriented governance.
‎
‎Udeze also charged the mayors, their deputies and councillors to remain committed representatives of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in their respective council areas and wards. He urged them to intensify mobilisation of APGA supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections to sustain the party’s dominance in Anambra.
‎
‎Expressing confidence in the ability of the new Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Chief Nnamdi Ifejika, his deputy and the councillors to deliver on their mandates, the speaker reminded them of Ogbaru’s significant contributions to the development and good governance of the state.
‎
‎He urged the Ogbaru council leadership to demonstrate greater commitment to APGA and continue to support the Soludo administration, stressing the need to consolidate the party’s presence and programmes in the area.
‎
‎The Speaker commended Governor Soludo for what he described as an impressive security architecture that has strengthened the protection of lives and property across the state.
‎
‎Udeze appealed to security agencies to build on the governor’s efforts by extending effective security operations to all local government areas, while urging the newly inaugurated council officials to work with relevant authorities to promote peace, security and sustainable development at the grassroots.
