The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed two key appointees of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, paving the way for them to take office.
Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has been confirmed as the Attorney General, while Mr. Izunna Okafor has been confirmed as Commissioner for Finance.
The nominees were screened by lawmakers, who assessed their professional competence, experience, and readiness to contribute to the state’s development.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, urged the appointees to deliver effectively in their roles, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and commitment to public service.
Barr. Nweke promised to initiate reforms in the judicial sector, enhancing access to justice and strengthening legal institutions. Mr. Okafor vowed to bring prudence and fiscal discipline to the state’s finances.
The House also approved the appointment of up to 16 Special Advisers to support the Governor’s constitutional duties.
