ANAMBRA ADVANCE DIGITAL FUTURE AS ITC INNOVATION CENTRE IS UNVEILED IN AWKA

The Anambra State capital, Awka, witnessed a surge of excitement as the state government, in collaboration with stakeholders, unveiled a new ICT Innovation Centre aimed at boosting digital skills and innovation among youths.
The facility, established in honour of late Tech Enthusiast Anthony Okechukwu, is designed to serve as a hub for learning, collaboration, and technological advancement in the state.
Unveiling the centre, the Anambra State Deputy Governor, OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, emphasized the value of impactful living, noting that legacies are defined by meaningful contributions rather than longevity.
“Life is not about how long one lives, but how well one lives. We are remembered by the good we do. This centre stands as a testament to a life well lived and a vision that continues to inspire,” he said.
Dr. Ibezim highlighted ongoing infrastructural transformation across the state, including major developments within the Government House, describing them as unprecedented.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Chukwuma Soludo to positioning Anambra as a leading hub for technology and innovation in Nigeria.
In her remarks, the Director of the Anthony ICT Innovation Centre, Mrs. Chioma Okechukwu Uba, described the project as both a tribute and a promise to sustain her late brother’s vision for technology-driven development.
She explained that the centre would provide a platform where young people can acquire digital skills, innovate, and connect with opportunities capable of shaping their future.
“The centre is a space where innovation is nurtured and where youths can plug into global opportunities,” she noted, urging beneficiaries to maximize its resources.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Innovation, Miss Chinwe Okoli, stressed that technology has become central to Anambra’s development agenda.
She said that the state has engaged over 3,000 youths in various digital initiatives and has now established 20 innovation hubs since the inception of the current administration.
According to her, the new centre underscores the importance of partnerships in building a sustainable, tech-driven economy.
The event attracted a wide array of stakeholders, including Ben Ndi-Obi and Prof. A.U. Nnonyelu, alongside youths and technology enthusiasts, all of whom expressed optimism that the centre would drive digital empowerment and economic growth across the state.
The unveiling marks another milestone in Anambra’s push toward becoming a leading destination for innovation and technological excellence in Nigeria.
