The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has on Aug. 26 commended the remarkable transformation and development recorded in the state 35 years after its creation.
In a congratulatory message to the government and people of Anambra State to mark the 35th anniversary, Barr. Ezeaka said the state had made significant strides in infrastructure and urban development, describing its growth as remarkable.
He recalled that the old Anambra State had only about three major urban centres, noting that the present Anambra had witnessed extensive development, with more than 95 per cent of rural communities becoming increasingly urbanised through improved infrastructure and modern buildings.
The commissioner also praised the improvement in the state’s road network, particularly the connectivity between rural communities, as well as the prompt payment of salaries and gratuities to retired local government workers.
He highlighted the progress made in the local government system following the enactment of the 2024 Administration Law, which, he said, provided a codified constitutional framework for local government autonomy and had contributed to development at the grassroots.
Barr. Ezeaka further noted that Anambra had continued to witness major infrastructural transformation, citing the Government House and Governor’s Lodge in Awka, the new airport, International Convention Centre, Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Federal Secretariat Complex and State Secretariat Complex, among other projects.
The commissioner commended the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for its development initiatives and urged well-meaning Ndi Anambra to continue supporting efforts aimed at sustaining the state’s progress and taking it to greater heights beyond the present administration.
He wished Anambra State continued growth, peace and prosperity, as the Soludo administration sustains its drive for technological advancement and infrastructural development across rural communities and the state at large.
