The Deputy Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyi Anakuba, has approved the appointment of 20 Special Assistants as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
The appointments, which take effect from May 1, 2026, are drawn from various wards across the local government, reflecting a broad representation of the community.
According to officials, the move is aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, deepening community engagement, and supporting ongoing development initiatives within the council.
Stakeholders have described the appointments as a step toward expanding leadership capacity, noting that increased representation at the ward level could improve responsiveness to local needs and challenges.
Some residents also expressed optimism that the new aides would contribute fresh ideas and energy to governance, particularly in areas of youth engagement and community development.
The appointments come as the local government intensifies efforts to drive inclusive governance and accelerate development across Idemili South.
