The Ajalli Youth Organisation (AYO) in Orumba North Local Government Area has organised one- day sensitisation on the danger of illicit drug abuse, held at the Community Secondary School Ajalli on July 2.

The sensitisation is a move to creating awareness and tackling the menace of drug abuse amongst the youths as well educate them on the negative effects and long-term damages associated with the use of illicit substances.
In his address, the Youth President, Engr. Kingsley Ezeani, stated that the essence of the sensitization, which he describe as an enlightenment to the students on the danger associated with drug abuse and the need to avoid peer pressure influence

He reiterated on the need to desist from the possession or the use of any form of illicit drugs, while advising the students to be more focused in achieving academic excellence and building a brighter future for themselves which would make their family, community and society proud.

According to the Orumba North Director of Environmental Health, Mrs Nkoli Okeke who spoke on the adverse effects of drug abuse and related vices describing it as a major threat to individuals lives and aspirations, while speaking on the illegality of drug abuse, she however created awareness on how to avoid the use of drugs and becoming victims of crime in the society.
The students gave a vote of thanks, represented by Miss. Kanu, the Senior Prefect(SP) who appreciated the thoughtfulness of the organization in bringing this sensitization to their school.
The program was attended by other executive members of the youths organisation, teachers and students of the school.
