As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting small-scale traders across communities in Aguata Local Government Area, Mayor Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike has officially commissioned the newly constructed Afor Open Market in Ikenga.
The project is part of several initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of local residents, especially women, by providing a more conducive and organized environment for small – scale businesses to thrive.
Speaking during the event, Dr Oforbuike expressed that the local government remain committed to valuing and supporting the hard work of people at the grassroots level. The new market is expected to enhance daily trading activities and contribute to economic growth within the community.
Many women expressed their appreciation for the improved condition that will positively impact their livelihoods. They said, development is not only seen as economic boost but also as a symbol of commitment to community growth and inclusive support.
Special appreciation was extended to the councillor representing Ikenga Ward, Hon. Calistus Okoli, whose efforts and dedication played a key role in bringing the project to life. His commitment to the welfare of his constituents was describe as examplary.
