Members of the Adazi-Ani Women’s Wing have congratulated the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on her appointment as the first female Chief Medical Director of the institution.

The delegation, led by Mrs. Nonye Muojekwu, paid a courtesy visit to the CMD at her office recently to celebrate what they described as a landmark achievement for the Adazi-Ani community and a significant milestone for women in leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mrs. Muojekwu thanked Dr. Umeakuewulu for the warm reception, expressing pride that an illustrious daughter of Adazi-Ani had attained such a prestigious position, describing the appointment as a source of inspiration for women and young girls aspiring to leadership roles.

Mrs. Muojekwu pledged the group’s unwavering support for the CMD’s administration and prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom, strength, good health and grace as she leads the teaching hospital to greater heights.

Responding, Dr. Umeakuewulu expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of love, solidarity and encouragement, noting that the goodwill shown by the women would further motivate her to provide purposeful leadership and strengthen healthcare delivery at the institution.

The CMD highlighted key reforms already being implemented under her administration, including the digitalisation of hospital operations, the modernisation of critical care facilities, the strengthening of the hospital’s security architecture, the procurement of modern medical equipment and other strategic initiatives aimed at repositioning COOUTH as a world-class teaching hospital.

She reaffirmed her commitment to delivering quality healthcare services, promoting excellence in patient care and advancing the institution’s mandate of medical education, research and specialist healthcare delivery.
