The President General of the Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU), Lagos Branch, Chief Sir Amechi Ebeledike, has said that Anambra State has made significant progress since its creation 35 years ago.

Speaking in an interview on August 25 to mark Anambra at 35, Chief Ebeledike noted that the state has recorded meaningful development, particularly in infrastructure and education. He observed that successive administrations have made efforts to improve road infrastructure, thereby enhancing road networks and connectivity across the state.

He, however, stressed that there is still considerable room for further development as Anambra marks its 35th anniversary. He called for greater industrialisation, particularly through the promotion and support of small and medium-scale enterprises.

The AASDU President General also charged citizens to consistently fulfil their civic responsibilities by safeguarding and protecting government assets within their respective communities. He urged them to embrace the philosophy of “Aku Luo Uno,” which emphasises the importance of contributing to the development of one’s homeland.

Sir Ebeledike further called on traditional institutions and community leaders to discourage the “get-rich-quick” mentality among citizens and instead promote values that reward integrity, patriotism and hard work.

He also stressed the need for politics to be used as a tool for building bridges and fostering stronger relationships across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
