NGOZIKA ESTATE, AWKA SETS MEASURES TO CURB ENVIROMENTAL DEGRADATION IN ANAMBRA STATE

In line with the declaration of State of emergency on environmental degradation in Anambra state by the Executive Governor of the State, Prof. Chulkwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, residents of Ngozika Housing Estate has already put in place measures to curb this environmental degradation in its environment.
This formed a major part of the sanitation meeting held by the residents of the estate where decisions were reached on measures that will be put in place in order to achieve a clean and Healthy environment.

In a circular shared by the Eastate Secretary via the Estate Whatsapp group on July 1, 2026, every resident were mandated to thoroughly clear their surroundings and drainages especially by cutting of grasses and trimming of flowers around their vicinity as often as possible.
The residents were also advised to properly pack their refuses in a heavy duty refuse sacks well tired together to avoid littering the environment as failure to heed to these environmental measures will attract a fine of fifty thousand naira (N50,000) and if the defaulter refuses to pay, he/she will be reported to the State Government for necessary sanction.
“As was resolved in the last estate meeting that environmentally you should clear all your surroundings, drainages and well packed refuses that will not litter your environment. If one defaluts, there will be imposed fine of N50,000 only and if you fail to comply, the issues will be related to the government immediately for necessary action” the circular reads.
