A political advocacy group, Anambra Patriots (APS), has thrown its weight behind Engr. Obiorah Okafor and Pharmacist Boniface Egbutu as its preferred candidates for the Awka South I and Awka South II constituencies in the Anambra State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at the group’s National Secretariat in Aroma, Awka, where its leadership reaffirmed a commitment to promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability across all levels of leadership.

Speaking at the event, the Convener of APS, Architect Okey Ezeobi, alongside the National Chairman, Chief George Enekwechi, said the decision followed a rigorous screening process. According to them, both aspirants demonstrated credibility, competence, and alignment with the group’s core values, positioning them as capable representatives of their constituencies.

Also lending support, the Coordinator for Awka South l, Charles Nweke, and his Awka South II counterpart, Uche Nwocha, described Okafor and Egbutu as committed members of the organization with a track record of service. They jointly moved a motion endorsing the duo, which received unanimous approval from members present.
In their acceptance remarks, Okafor and Egbutu expressed gratitude for the endorsement, noting that their ambition is driven by a desire to improve the welfare of their constituents. They pledged to uphold transparency, accountability, and justice if elected, promising to deliver effective and people-oriented representation.
The endorsement marks an early political alignment as stakeholders begin to position ahead of the 2027 elections in Anambra State.
