The Vicar of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Akpo, Rev. Fr. Valentine Izuchukwu Nwankwo, has urged Nigerians to vote according to their conscience in the 2027 general elections.

Nwankwo gave the advice while addressing the congregation shortly after Mass at Akpo, Aguata Local Government Area, on Oct. 25.

He described voting as a civic responsibility and an expression of love for society, urging voters to consider candidates’ records and past performance before making their choices.

The cleric noted that many politicians seeking elective offices had previously held public positions, giving voters the opportunity to assess their records and conduct.

“Our conscience is in a position to direct us to the right candidate,” he said.

Nwankwo cautioned voters against political propaganda designed to sway their choices in the interests of politicians.

He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the elections, stressing the need to ensure that their votes counted through lawful means.

“See voting as a civic responsibility and an expression of love for society. Get your PVC ready and go out to vote on election day.

“Do everything within the law to make your vote count. With the collective efforts of all of us, we can build a better Nigeria,” he said.
