The Anambra State Urban Water Assets Holding Corporation (ASUWAHC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, reliable and sustainable water supply across the state as it hosted officials of the Anambra State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning during an advocacy and budget review visit ahead of the preparation of the 2027 State Budget.
The advocacy visit on July 21 was conducted in line with a circular issued by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, directing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to subject their proposed budget titles and descriptions to a comprehensive review before the commencement of the 2027 budget process.

Unlike previous budget exercises, the ministry introduced the advocacy visit as a new initiative aimed at engaging MDAs ahead of the formal bilateral budget discussions. The exercise was designed to ensure that budget titles, descriptions and proposed projects accurately reflect the mandates of each agency while aligning with the development priorities and policy direction of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration.
The advocacy team explained that the pre-budget engagement would enable MDAs to identify inconsistencies, make necessary amendments and fine-tune their budget proposals before the bilateral discussions. The bilateral budget discussion is the formal stage of the budget process where each MDA presents and defends its proposed programmes, projects and expenditure before officials of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
Speaking after the interactive session, the Officer-in-Charge of ASUWAHC, Mrs. Emmanuella Okafor, reiterated the corporation’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the provision of safe and sustainable water supply to the people of Anambra State.
She noted that the Corporation’s proposed 2027 budget was carefully developed to support ongoing reforms in the water sector, strengthen water infrastructure and enhance efficient service delivery in line with the vision of the Soludo administration.
Mrs. Okafor further assured the review team that ASUWAHC remains committed to prudent resource management and the implementation of impactful projects that will improve access to potable water across the state. She added that the Corporation welcomes initiatives that promote transparency, accountability and effective budget planning.
The review session featured detailed deliberations on ASUWAHC’s budget proposals, with the Head of Special Projects Department, Mr. Aloysius Aniazoba, Head of Planning Unit, Mr. Philip Odunze, and the Head of Accounting Department, Mrs. Nwankwo Chinyere, serving as key resource officers during the strategic planning and technical discussions on the Corporation’s 2027 fiscal budget.
The advocacy team from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning comprised two Planning Officers, Mrs. Juliet Emodi and Mrs. Melifonwu Florence, who guided the corporation through the review process, offering professional recommendations to ensure that its budget descriptions, titles and proposed activities conform to the state’s budget framework and development objectives.
