As the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) predicts early rainfall and possible flooding in parts of the country, Nigerians have expressed mixed feelings about the development.

During our interview on the street to feel the pulse of the people, some residents welcomed the season for its farming benefits.
“Rainy season is the best time for farming,” said Mr. Arthur Chukwuka, a Ministry of Health staff and farmer, noting that the weather supports planting.

Mr. Osita John, a civil servant, also described the season as ideal for cultivation.

However, others raised concerns about its impact.

Mrs. Amarachi Samuel-Mbonu described the season as a “mixed bag,” citing both agricultural benefits and flooding challenges.

Mr. Dennis Egbo called for improved infrastructure to manage the rains effectively.

NiMet has warned that some states, especially in the southern and middle belt regions, may experience flooding due to heavy downpours.
