The Young Catholic Professionals (YCP), Awka, on Aug. 1 organised a community outreach programme to promote personal hygiene and support the educational development of children.
The outreach, tagged “Pad a Girl Child & Improve Hygiene for Boy Child Initiative,” was held at St. Joseph Parish, UNIZIK Temporary Site, Awka, under the leadership of the YCP Queen, Miss Orji Chinonso Immaculate.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Chika Ngoboli Arpa underscored the importance of personal hygiene, describing it as a key foundation for healthy living, self confidence and overall well being.
Miss Aniche Ijeoma Cynthia also educated the children on proper hygiene practices and encouraged them to cultivate healthy habits in their daily lives.

The President of YCP Awka, Engr. Martins Ibenta, thanked the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Louis Nwobi, and the Parish Vicar, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Akwuba, for providing the platform for the outreach and supporting its successful execution.
Ibenta said the initiative included the distribution of educational and welfare materials, such as sanitary pads, exercise books, pens and rulers, to promote the children’s personal well being and enhance their academic pursuits.

According to him, the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to community development, youth empowerment and the promotion of healthy lifestyles among young people.
He added that the outreach formed part of YCP Awka’s sustained efforts to improve the welfare of children through health education and practical support.
