The Newly sworn-in Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Oluchukwu John Ilogbenu, has celebrated teachers, describing them as critical builders of the society’s future.
In a message marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, Ilogbenu acknowledged teachers’ sacrifices, patience and commitment to shaping minds, building character and preparing children for tomorrow.
The Mayor said that this year’s theme, “Standing with teachers,” underscores the need to strengthen the teaching profession and ensure educators receive the recognition and support they deserve.
Ilogbenu, who assumed office following his swearing-in, particularly appreciated teachers across Idemili South, assuring them that his administration would pay attention to their concerns and welfare.
He stressed that improving education goes beyond constructing schools and providing learning materials, noting that teachers remain at the heart of effective teaching and meaningful learning.
According to him, emphasis would be placed on quality teaching, continuous training, professional development and teacher welfare, while the Local Government explores practical ways to improve schools.
The Mayor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to identifying critical educational needs and creating better learning environments, stressing that children deserve quality education while teachers deserve dignity and support.
Ilogbenu urged teachers to remain committed to their noble profession, assuring them that their contributions may not always make headlines, but their impact continues through the lives they transform.
