World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, provides an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health and encourage conversations that promote understanding, compassion and support.

The observance highlights the importance of mental wellbeing as an essential component of overall health, drawing attention to the need for accessible care and supportive communities.

Mental health challenges can affect people across different ages and backgrounds, making awareness, early intervention and professional assistance important in promoting healthier individuals and stronger families.

Residents are encouraged to seek appropriate professional help when experiencing persistent emotional distress, anxiety or other mental health concerns, rather than suffering silently or relying solely on unverified advice.

Families and communities also have important roles in creating supportive environments where individuals can discuss their challenges without fear of discrimination, ridicule or social exclusion.

The Anambra State Government, under Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, continues to pursue its vision of a liveable and prosperous homeland where residents can enjoy improved wellbeing and quality of life.

Health professionals encourage residents to develop healthy routines, maintain supportive relationships, manage stress and seek qualified assistance when necessary to protect their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Public awareness and responsible conversations about mental health can help challenge harmful stereotypes, encourage early treatment and strengthen collective efforts towards healthier and more compassionate communities.

As the world marks World Mental Health Day, residents are encouraged to prioritize their wellbeing, support people facing emotional difficulties and contribute to a society where seeking help is accepted.
