Ndi Anambra have been urged to join communities across Nigeria and the world in promoting clean, healthy and sustainable environments as the world marks World Cleanup Day on 19 September.
World Cleanup Day is observed annually to mobilize individuals, communities, organisations and governments to take action against littering, waste pollution and environmental degradation.
The observance provides an opportunity to raise awareness on responsible waste management and encourage citizens to take practical steps towards keeping their surroundings clean.
In Anambra State, residents are encouraged to support the Solution Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo by embracing proper waste disposal and maintaining clean public and private spaces.
Citizens are also reminded that environmental cleanliness is a collective responsibility requiring the active participation of households, businesses, schools, markets, religious organisations and community groups.
Proper waste disposal, regular environmental sanitation and reduction of indiscriminate dumping can help protect public health while contributing to cleaner and more liveable communities.
The state government has continued to emphasise environmental responsibility as part of efforts to build a liveable and prosperous homeland for Ndi Anambra.
As the world marks World Cleanup Day, Ndi Anambra are encouraged to make cleanliness a daily habit and support initiatives that promote a healthier and more sustainable environment.
The observance therefore serves as a reminder that every individual can contribute to a cleaner Anambra through responsible environmental practices and active community participation.
Maureen is of the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation, Anambra State.
