‎Every year on July 22, the global community observes World Brain Day, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of brain health and promoting actions that help prevent neurological disorders. This year’s observance serves as a reminder that safeguarding brain health is essential to building healthier families, stronger communities, and a more productive society.
‎
‎
‎The brain is the body’s control centre, coordinating every thought, decision, movement, and learning process. Every achievement and aspiration depends on a healthy and properly functioning brain. However, neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and other brain disorders continue to affect millions of people worldwide, including many Nigerians.
‎
‎
‎In Anambra State, the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has consistently prioritised the improvement of healthcare delivery as part of its vision of building a healthy, livable, and prosperous homeland. Through sustained investments in healthcare infrastructure, the recruitment of qualified health professionals, and the strengthening of primary healthcare services, the government is expanding access to quality healthcare for residents across the state.
‎
‎
‎World Brain Day also provides an opportunity to encourage healthy lifestyle choices that support brain health. Maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, getting adequate sleep, managing stress effectively, avoiding substance abuse, controlling blood pressure and other underlying health conditions, and seeking prompt medical attention when necessary are practical measures that can significantly reduce the risk of neurological diseases.
‎
‎
‎As Anambra continues to pursue sustainable development under Governor Soludo’s people-centred agenda, investing in the health and well-being of the population including brain health remains fundamental to economic growth, educational advancement, innovation, and overall community development.
‎
‎
‎As the world commemorates World Brain Day, residents are encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles, support individuals living with neurological conditions, and work collectively towards building an Anambra where every citizen has the opportunity to enjoy a healthier, more productive, and fulfilling life.
