The University on the Niger community gathered in worship at the Lazarus of Bethany Chapel, Umunya, on June 28 for its confirmation and admission service, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing students in faith, character and academic excellence.
The service was officiated by the Chancellor of the University, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, JP, FITH-PUA, who administered the confirmation rites, urging the candidates to remain steadfast in their Christian faith.

In his sermon, Bishop Nwokolo encouraged the students and congregation to cultivate a sincere love for God, stressing that lasting success is built on a life rooted in christian values.
He urged the students to remain focused on their relationship with God, allowing their faith to guide both their academic pursuits and personal conduct. According to him, true academic excellence is sustained by discipline, integrity and godly character.

The chancellor reaffirmed the University’s vision of producing graduates who are distinguished not only by academic achievement but also by exemplary character, leadership and spiritual maturity.

The service ended on a joyful note as staff, students, clergy and guests surprised Bishop Nwokolo with a birthday celebration in recognition of his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the growth of the institution.
The gathering featured prayers, goodwill messages and expressions of appreciation for the chancellor’s dedication to advancing the University’s mission of academic excellence anchored on Christian values.
