Aspirant for Onitsha North Constituency II seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Ikenna Unachukwu, has identified youth empowerment and economic growth as key priorities in his proposed legislative agenda.
Speaking in an interview, Unachukwu said his focus is on creating sustainable opportunities for young people through structured policies that address unemployment and promote self-reliance.
“I am committed to sponsoring legislation that will unlock the potential of our youths. We need to move beyond rhetoric and create systems that support entrepreneurship, skills development, and access to opportunities.”
According to him, the proposed bill will prioritise entrepreneurship by providing access to funding, mentorship, and market linkages for young people seeking to start and grow businesses.
“Our youths have ideas and energy, but they need support. With the right framework, we can stimulate innovation and strengthen the local economy,” he said..
Unachukwu also emphasized the importance of skills acquisition, noting that modern economic realities require practical and technical competencies.
“We must invest in vocational, digital, and technical training programmes that prepare our young people for today’s job market,” he added.
He described his approach as focused on long-term impact, stressing that empowering youths is critical to achieving inclusive growth and sustainable development in the constituency.
Observers say the emphasis on youth-centered policies reflects increasing attention among aspirants to address unemployment and economic challenges at the grassroots level.
