ASPHCDA STAFF MEETS WITH NEW BOSS, DISCUSS CHALLENGES, WAY FORWARD

The Management and Staff of Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA) has on May 7, held its first general staff meeting with the new Executive Secretary, ASPHCDA, Dr Obianuju Chinelo Okoye.

The meeting was held at ASPHCDA Office complex, Awka with a self introduction of all staff to identify their names, and Department/Unit in the Agency.

Dr Okoye noted that the meeting was crucial as it targets identifying challenges/issues from the various departments and units in the Agency whilst brainstorming on ways to continually move the Agency forward. She commended the ASPHCDA immediate past Executive Secretary, Pharm Chisom Uchem for the efforts in coordinating affairs of the Agency.

The ASPHCDA Boss noting that she was not new to the Anambra Health System, emphasized on the need for the Agency’s team to work as a family while being guided by teachings of the holy bible which states; “help and love thy neighbour.”

“Every staff is a neighbour to the other, though with differences, we can all still work in harmony as a family, putting in all efforts to ensure optimal functionality,” she buttressed.

Dr Okoye urged the Staff to imbibe the spirit of contentment as it would aid lead to less disagreements in the work space. “At the end, we will all answer to how well we lived our lives, took care of things in our possessions, and discharged the job/duties assigned to us.”

Responding to the ES request on challenges faced, the State Cold Chain Officer (CCO) of the Immunization Unit, Mr Augustine Tochukwu Aniesona complained of inadequate storage space for dry store commodities and insufficient office chairs and tables in their Unit.

Other complaints made by some departments and units includes; insufficient staff to aid with work load in both the Accounts Department and Audit Unit, inability to secure approval for funds to carry out activities in the Administration Department, fueling and cost of vehicle maintenance in the Transport Unit, among many others.

Responding to complaints and challenges; Dr Okoye assured that all issues has been noted and they would be looked into, to ensure result oriented, efficient and effective productivity towards service delivery in ASPHCDA.

She encouraged on hardwork and a good working relationship amongst staff of the Agency, while urging them not to speak of anything they were not sure about against each other as her office would not entertain gossips. The ES, then, assured that first aid box would be made available in the Agency for staff use.
