STAKEHOLDER APPLAUDS ANAMBRA STATE GOVT FOR CONDUCTING LOCAL GOVT ELECTIONS

By David Okpala/Stella Okpala :

The All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) Chieftain, Chief Charles Obiekwe has applauded Anambra State Government for her doggedness to conducting local government elections, the first in about eleven years.

He said this while interacting with information officers shortly after casting his vote, at Polling Unit 006, Umueze Village Hall, Akpo, in Aguata LGA, on Sept. 28.

Obiekwe who is also an Awka based business Mogul said, “it is sweet seeing this election becoming a reality.

“Thanks to legislative arm of government for making speedy enabling laws that led to today’s election success.

“We had clamoured for the election, to bring government closer to rural communities.

“The election is smooth, peaceful in our polling boot here. Reports from other polling boots within my disposal are also suggesting smooth, peaceful conduct.”

He thanked Ndi Anambra who always proved civil at the face of elections, saluting the efforts of  Gov. Soludo for putting up this election in a very short period.

“He is an economist that understand scale of preference, prioritizes activities to suit the time in which we are therein. Let us support him in the interest of our dear State.

“It is wise to put interest of our State ahead of personal interest. Election has come, it must have taken a lot from the treasure of the government. Individuals like us have also put in personal resources, time and other logistics.

“Accepting the elections, its results as they fizzle in, will go a long way to giving us value to all we have put into it.

“The chances of all of us becoming chairmen/councillors at the same time is not possible. So, whoever did not get it now should wait for another opportunity.”

Obiekwe enjoined politicians to play the game according to its rules having the well-being of the downtrodden at heart.

“Those of us wanting to destroy APGA in the name of politics should think again. The name behind APGA success, growth and development remains Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

“He was so selfless that he fought for the interest of others with his personal resources in the spirit of brotherhood. He has not died but transformed to better life glory. Let us not brake his heart by undermining brotherhood mantra of APGA (Onye Aghana Nwanne ya), but hold firm to it.”

Obiekwe pleaded with APGA National Leaders both those who emerged from court room and those from conventional arena to see how they can give some to take some, in order to keep the Ojukwu Flag of “Onye Aghana Nwanne ya” flying.

APGA SET FOR LANDSLIDE VICTORY IN ANAMBRA LG ELECTION – IBUZO—DESCRIBES SOME POLITICIAN AS JOBLESS

By Juliana Nwachukwu  :

Former Anambra State lawmaker, who represented Onitsha North 1 in the State House of Assembly, Edward Ibuzo, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will dominate the upcoming local government elections on September 28.

Ibuzo who was the candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), representing Onitsha North/South in the Federal House of Representative during the last general election disclosed this at Alex Ekwueme Square during the APGA Rally for local government election.

He stated that it is APGA all the way because Governor Soludo has delivered dividends of democracy to the people, ”Anambra State is now APGA.

“The state has been progressing since APGA took over the mantle of leadership, Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra and I look up on APGA as a party that will one day  provide president for this country”, he affirmed.

He also said that he was stopped from winning the election for the Green chamber because of the  Tsunami of the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

According to him, the emergence of Obi as the LP Presidential candidate gave most of the candidates the opportunity to emerge victorious even if they were nobody and not known by the people who voted for them.

“Unfortunately those that were elected because of Obi have not been able to provide dividends of democracy to the people they represent. They are just there without any achievements. So those elected under the platform of Labour Party have disappointed the people.

“They never made use of their victory properly and I am highly disappointed in them. I hope the people are counting because the motive for them to be there has not been achieved,” he stated.

The former lawmaker disclosed  also that 70 per cent of Nigerian politicians have no handwork but rather see politics as handwork which according to him, the situation plunged Nigeria into the present socio-economic and political quagmire.

“It is unfortunate that 70 per cent of Nigerian politicians don’t have handwork, they don’t have anything doing. You must have something doing so that if you are out of politics you go back to your business.

“I am now into oil and gas, I am also into estate management. When I was defeated by the Obi’s Tsunami, I went into my business. So politics is not business, you should look for something doing,” he advised.

APGA NATIONAL CHAIRMAN WARNS OPPOSITION TO STEER CLEAR AS ONITSHA SOUTH FLAGS OFF CAMPAIGN

By Juliana Nwachukwu  :

Barely two weeks to the conduct of local government election in Anambra State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by Mr  Sylvester Ezeokenwa, weekend flagged off election  campaign and inauguration of the team for Onitsha South Council area at the secretariat.

Flagging off the campaign, Ezeokenwa warned Chief Edozie Njoku, opposition national chairman, not to hold any parallel meeting in any part of the state.

Ezeokenwa, directed Chief Emeka Orji, the Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South and the candidate of the party in the September 28, 2024 local government election, not to allow such illegality in the local government.

He alleged that Chief Edozie Njoku is afraid of meeting him in Court insisting that Njoku has many things to explain to the Court.

Sounding the note of warning during the flag off of the local government election campaign for Chairmanship candidate, Chief Emeka Joseph Orji and the Councillorship candidates, he said: “You are all aware of one Edozie Njoku who has been parading himself as Acting National Chairman of the party with a certain Court Order which he claimed affirmed his position.

“We have initiated legal proceedings to contest Edozie Njoku’s claim, but he has consistently objected and evaded appearing in court. This prompts us to ask: what is Mr. Njoku hiding? Why is he reluctant to present in court the specific pronouncement that allegedly appointed him Acting National Chairman? His persistent avoidance of the legal process suggests there may be more to this issue than initially apparent, raising questions about his transparency and integrity.

“Onitsha South is my local government area and I am a son of Fegge and Mr Chairman please do not allow them to hold any meeting of any kind , shape and form to hold in this area. I know that they have been moving around in Onitsha South Local Government Area.

Earlier in his speech, Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Orji, vowed that upon his election he will ensure dividends of democracy would be spread across the area, it is aimed at providing better welfare to the people.

In her speech, Commissioner for Special Duties. Mrs Beverly Nkemdiche, urged the Vice Chairmanship candidate and all the 17 Ward Councillorship candidates to remain loyal to the chairman, adding that the party will not take lightly any acts of insubordination as the party would take care of the culprits in line with the party constitution.

Contributing, the deputy chairmanship candidate, Mr Onyebuchi Obi, told newsmen that he would synergize with Orji for better welfare to the people and urged the people to vote for them during the conduct of the local government election.

He expressed optimism that APGA will emerge victorious going by the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who he said has changed the race of the state for the betterment of all and sundry.

A chieftain of APGA and former Transition committee member in Onitsha South council area, Mr Chidi Azunna, expressed satisfaction with the successful inauguration/flag off of Onitsha South Local Government election campaign for both chairman and councilors of APGA in the area.

His words, “We are here for the inauguration and flag off of both chairman and councilors’ election campaign. APGA did good work through Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Onitsha South Local Government Area,” he revealed.
