April 23 at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, the Digital Literacy & Technology Innovation Program was officially launched, marking another important step in deepening Anambra’s distributed innovation ecosystem.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, set the tone with a strong call for responsible digital engagement, challenging students to use technology and social platforms as tools for value creation, while reinforcing a safe and supportive academic environment.

Representing the Anambra State Government, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser on Innovation & Business Incubation and CEO of Solution Innovation District (SID), positioned the initiative within the State’s broader vision of building a technology-driven economy. She emphasized the need for students to actively acquire globally relevant skills and plug into emerging digital opportunities.

Critically, the COOU embedded hub reflects the Hubs and Spokes model of innovation championed by Mr Governor and driven through SID. While SID serves as the central hub, institutions like COOU function as key spokes, expanding access to talent development, innovation support, and entrepreneurial pathways across the state. This ensures that innovation is not confined to a single location, but scaled through universities, communities, and local ecosystems.

The programme, led by the University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Digital Hands Ltd, reinforces the growing alignment between government, academia and industry, and signals a deliberate move to institutionalize digital skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the university system.

This hub strengthens the talent pipeline feeding into the broader SID ecosystem, connecting students to skills, startups, and future opportunities within Anambra’s emerging innovation economy. Indeed the solution is here.
