A stakeholder in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Somuadina Ojukwu, has called on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to consider recognising the contributions of philanthropist and party loyalist, Chief Chinedu Nduka Okoye, popularly known as Ozonkpu Ubinaemenni Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri.

In an open letter addressed to the governor, Ojukwu commended Soludo’s administration for ongoing developmental strides across the state, while urging him to acknowledge individuals who have made significant grassroots impact outside formal government structures.

According to him, Okoye has distinguished himself through sustained humanitarian and empowerment initiatives across Anambra State, particularly in youth development, education support, and community welfare.

“Even without holding public office, he has continued to touch lives through personal sacrifice and consistent intervention,” Ojukwu noted.

He cited several initiatives attributed to Okoye, including financial support for young entrepreneurs, distribution of food items to vulnerable households, sponsorship of widows, and payment of school fees for children across various communities.

“He has empowered youths with startup capital, supported widows with housing and livelihood assistance, and invested in education for thousands of children. These are measurable contributions that have impacted real lives,” he said.

Ojukwu also highlighted Okoye’s role in party activities, noting his support during the 2021 governorship election.

“His commitment to the party and its leadership has been unwavering. He contributed significantly during the campaign period and has remained loyal to the vision of the administration,” he added.

He argued that recognising such contributions through a strategic appointment would not only reward service but also enhance ongoing development efforts.

“Appointing individuals with proven grassroots impact is an investment in governance. It will further strengthen community-based development and expand the reach of government initiatives,” Ojukwu said.

The appeal reflects a broader conversation within political circles on the role of private citizens and party stakeholders in supporting governance and community development across the state.
