St. Lawrence Catholic Parish, Osumenyi, was aglow with joy and thanksgiving on Sunday, November1, as the parish celebrated the Solemnity of All Saints with a pastoral visit by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye.
In his homily, Monsignor Patrick Ezeobata who represented the Bishop, urged the newly confirmed candidates to reflect on the spiritual significance of the Solemnity of All Saints and allow its message to guide their Christian lives.
Drawing from the first reading in the Book of Revelations, he highlighted the multitude dressed in white robes, explaining that they represent those who have endured the trials and tribulations of this world and now share in the glory of the saints in heaven.
Ezeobata encouraged the candidates to persevere in faith, remain steadfast in their Christian commitments and live worthy of their calling as followers of Christ.
He further reminded them that the Christian journey required faithfulness, sacrifice and perseverance, with the ultimate hope of attaining eternal life with God.
At the end of the Mass, the parish community expressed profound joy and gratitude for the Bishop’s pastoral visit through his representative.
The parishioners warmly received Monsignor Ezeobata by paying him glowing tributes and presented various gifts in appreciation of the Bishop’s continued pastoral care and fatherly leadership.
The highlight of the celebration was colourful cultural performances.
